UP Government Announces New Property Registration Reform

Patel Law Chambers 15 April 2026

The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced digital reforms in the property registration process, allowing home registration without visiting Sub-Registrar Office.

The Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out a landmark reform in the property registration process — allowing property owners to register documents digitally without physically visiting the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO). Key Features of the New System: 1. Online execution of sale deeds through e-stamp and e-registration portal. 2. Biometric verification from authorized centers. 3. Real-time tracking of registration status. 4. Digitally signed registration certificates delivered via email. Stamp Duty and Fees Remain the Same: Citizens must still pay the applicable stamp duty (7% for male, 6% for female buyers) and 1% registration fee online before schedule. Benefit for Litigants: This reform will significantly reduce fraudulent registrations and help in faster mutation proceedings. Important Note: While the registration process has been simplified, legal scrutiny of title documents and sale agreements remains crucial. Always engage an advocate to review documents before signing. Patel Law Chambers provides complete property transaction support from title verification to registration and mutation.
